Approved March 20, 2025

Mission: The Central Connecticut Modern Quilt Guild is dedicated to developing and encouraging the art of Modern Quilting in Central Connecticut and New England.

Membership Meetings

·       Meetings are held on the second Monday of the month, subject to change if that date is a holiday or our meeting place is closed on the second Monday.

·       Meetings will be held at the Canton Community Center (40 Dyer Ave., Canton, CT) in the Multi-Purpose Room, which is in the lower level at the back of the building.

·       Park in the back of the building near the entrance and in the adjacent back parking lot.  Look for the Guild sign outside the door.  The room is to the left of the stairs.

·       Meetings begin at 6:00, unless otherwise scheduled.  Members are urged to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the meeting.

·       Each member is encouraged to wear a nametag to the monthly meetings.

·       Members are encouraged to sit with someone new at each meeting to get to know other members.

·       Members are encouraged to participate in the ‘Show and Share’ portion of the meeting.

·       A week before the monthly meeting, the Guild sends out the monthly newsletter outlining upcoming Guild events, pictures from prior meetings, and other activities and announcements that are of interest to the members.

·       For monthly meetings involving sewing machines and supplies, the newsletter and website will provide a list of supplies needed for these meetings. The Guild provides long extension cords and a couple of community irons.

Other Member Information

·       The mailing/email/Instagram name list is for use by our members for guild related activities only.  It may not be sold or used by non-members.

·       The Guild maintains a website (at CCTMQG.com) with information about the Guild in general, Guild Events, Sewing Tips and Tricks, Community Events and other information. Certain pages are passworded for the protection of the members.  Please see a board member for the password to the password protected documents.

·       Members who have businesses and/or teach classes may distribute notices, flyers, class lists and other materials at a designated area at the monthly meeting.  Meeting time and show and share cannot be used for advertising given the guild is a not-for-profit organization.

·       Members may not engage in any selling activities at meetings.

·       With the permission of the Board, members can bring surplus sewing/quilting related materials such as fabric, thread, patterns, books, etc. to share at no charge with other guild members.  However, the member must remove any unclaimed materials from the meeting rooms at the end of the meeting.  The Community Center trash cans cannot be used for disposal.

·       In keeping with the Guild mission at the top of the page, our guild is a community fostering appreciation of our members’ works, learning new techniques, and exposure to different styles and types of quilting.  The guild welcomes a broad diversity of members, and therefore members are asked to refrain from political or discriminatory speech or conduct.  Please reach out to any Board member with concerns.

·       The Guild has identified several charitable organizations that have requested donation quilts, and specific Guild members are the liaison between the Guild and the organization.  Feel free to ask any board member for further information.

·       Members are requested to take all cell phone calls, including facetime calls or speaker phone use, to private areas outside the meeting area.  In addition, this policy includes group areas at retreats, sew ins, and other guild related activities.
